Abstract
Ovaj rad nastoji prikazati kakvi su ideali ljepote postojali kroz povijest čovječanstva te kako se percipira ljepota u suvremenom društvu. Različite ideje ljepote o kojima se raspravljalo u povijesnim razdobljima kao što su stari, srednji i novi vijek dovode do suvremenog poimanja ljepote koji svoj ideal traži posvuda, samo ne u stvarnosti. Dolazi do novih tehnologija, sveprisutnih masovnih medija koji pod utjecajem moćnih oglašivača stvaraju svojevrstan mit o ljepoti. Žene, a sve češće i muškarci pribjegavaju estetskim korekcijama zbog sve većih standarda ljepote i poželjnog izgleda. Trenutna hiperseksualizirana kultura u kojoj živimo počinje definirati muškarce kao sljedeće tržište. Pogledamo li u prošlost, možemo se prisjetiti da je društvena promjena uvijek moguća, a kada neka ideja privuče dovoljan broj ljudi, tada je neizbježna.
Abstract (english)
This graduate thesis tries to show what kind of beauty ideals existed through the history of mankind and how beauty is perceived in contemporary society. The different ideas of beauty discussed in historical periods such as the old, middle and new era lead to a modern conception of the beauty who seeks their ideal everywhere but not in reality. New technologies have come and the omnipresent mass media that under the influence of powerful advertisers create their own myth of beauty. Women and increasing number of men resort to aesthetic corrections because of the ever increasing standards of beauty and desirable looks. The current hypersexualized culture in which we live begins to define men as the next market. Looking back, we can recall that social change is always possible, and when some ideas attract enough people, then it is inevitable.
