Abstract
Ovaj rad bavi se proučavanjem relativno novog područja supkulture igranja videoigara koje je puno potencijala. Industrija videoigara je industrija koja ostvaruje milijarde američkih dolara zarade godišnje i parira filmskoj industriji. Postavljanjem osnovnih pojmova o supkulturama i razvojem pojma kroz povijest postavljamo osnovu za definiranje igrača videoigara. Glavnina rada bavi se pregledom povijesti razvoja videoigara, samoj industriji te supkulturalnim teorijama o ovoj kulturi. Rad se također bavi navikama igrača videoigara te njihovom percepcijom u javnosti. Također radimo i osvrt na nove načine konzumacije ovog medija te pojavu natjecateljskog igranja videoigara. U sklopu rada obavljeno je i istraživanje kojem je cilj bio profilirati i prikazati navike ove supkulture u Hrvatskoj.
Abstract (english)
This thesis studies the relatively new field of the subculture of playing video games, which is full of potential. The industry of videogames is an industry that makes billions of dollars in profits and thusly is comparable to the movie industry. Setting up the base definitions of subcultures and the development of that term through history we set the basis to define the players of video games. The main part of this thesis focuses on the look through the history of development of video games, the very industry and the subcultural theories about this culture. The thesis also focuses on habits and practices of gamers and their perception in the public eye. Also we do a look at the new ways to consummation of this media and the advent of competitive video game playing. As a part of this thesis there has also been done a study which had a goal profiling of showcasing the habits of this subculture in Croatia.
