Abstract
U ovome završnom radu obradit će se tema videoigara i gaminga kao svojevrsne kulture u današnjoj popularnoj kulturi. Isti će biti objašnjeni kroz njihovu povijest, razvoj i današnje stanje. Prikazat će se problematika videoigara kao pozitivnog ili negativnog aspekta ljudske rase. Također će se raspravljati o korisnošću videoigara pri razvoju i odrastanju djece te utjecaju videoigara na njihovo ponašanje i društvene odnose. Objasnit će se motivacijske uloge videoigara prilikom socijalnih situacija, konkurentnosti, ali i pri devijantnom ponašanju. Prikazat će se odnosi videoigara i primijenjenih znanosti i istraživanja te koju ulogu videoigre imaju unutar istih. Na kraju će biti prikazani povijest i razvoj eSporta, navest će se imena najuspješnijih tvrtki eSport industrije kao i igre koje su povezane uz njih. Također će se raspraviti o kontroverznoj temi definiranja eSporta kao pravoga sporta.
Abstract (english)
The theme of this research paper will be focused on video games and gaming as a type of subculture in today’s popular culture. The aforementioned will be explained through analysis of their history, development and present state in today’s culture. The issues of video games will be listed and discussed to determine whether video games have had a positive or a negative impact on the humankind. Discussion will also be made on the effects video games have on children developing and growing up as well as their behavior and social relationships. The motivational role of video games in social situations, competitiveness, but as well as their role in deviant behavior will be explained. The relations between video games and applied sciences and research will be shown and the role which video games play will be explained. In the end, the history and development of eSports will be discussed, the names of the most successful eSports companies, as well as the games that are associated with them, will be named. The controversial theme of defining eSports as a real sport will also be discussed.
